Bi-induced Subgraphs and Stability Number*
We define a 2-parametric hierarchy ( , ) m n CLAP of bi-hereditary classes of graphs, and show that a maximum stable set can be found in polynomial time within each class ( , ) m n CLAP . The classes can be recognized in polynomial time.
متن کاملStability number and f-factors in graphs
Let f : X −→ N be an integer function. An f -factor is a spanning subgraph of a graph G = (X,E) whose vertices have degrees defined by f . In this paper, we prove a sufficient condition for the existence of a f -factor which involves the stability number, the minimun degree of G or the connectivity of the graph.
متن کاملTurán Graphs, Stability Number, and Fibonacci Index
The Fibonacci index of a graph is the number of its stable sets. This parameter is widely studied and has applications in chemical graph theory. In this paper, we establish tight upper bounds for the Fibonacci index in terms of the stability number and the order of general graphs and connected graphs. Turán graphs frequently appear in extremal graph theory. We show that Turán graphs and a conne...
متن کاملOn Stability Number of Upper Irredundance Number in Graphs
A vertex v in a vertex-subset I of an undirected graph G is said to be redundant if its closed neighborhood is contained in the union of closed neighborhoods of vertices of I − {v}. In the context of a communication network , this means that any vertex that may receive communications from I may also be informed from I − {v} . The irredundance number ir(G) is the minimum cardinality taken over a...
متن کاملStability number and even [2, b]-factors in graphs
Let b, b ≥ 2, be an even integer. A spanning subgraph of a graph G whose vertices have even degrees belonging to the interval [2, b], is called an even [2, b]-factor of G. In this paper, we prove a sufficient condition for the existence of an even [2, b]-factor which involves the stability number, the minimum degree of G and the integer b.
